At Area Stage, students of all ages and experience levels receive professional, conservatory-style training in a supportive and inspiring environment. Our classes are designed to develop well-rounded performers while giving each student the opportunity to build confidence, technique, and a genuine love of the performing arts.
Students can explore Musical Theatre, Acting, Dance, and more, with age-appropriate classes ranging from foundational training for young performers to advanced instruction for students pursuing collegiate and professional opportunities. Whether your student is stepping into the studio for the first time or preparing for their next big audition, our expert faculty provides the training and individualized attention they need to grow.

Stage I - Classes for Ages 6-9

An engaging acting class for students ages 6–9 that introduces the fundamentals of theatre through storytelling, character creation, improvisation, and scene work. Students will develop confidence, creativity, collaboration skills, and stage presence while exploring their imaginations, concluding with a showcase performance for friends and family.

An energetic musical theatre class for students ages 6–9 that introduces the fundamentals of singing, dancing, and acting through songs, movement, and performance activities. Students will build confidence, creativity, and teamwork skills while developing a strong foundation in musical theatre, concluding with a showcase performance for friends and family.

Stage II - Classes for Ages 10-13

An acting class for students ages 10–13 that builds a strong foundation in theatre through scene work, character development, improvisation, and storytelling. Students will strengthen their acting technique, confidence, and collaboration skills while exploring more structured performance work in a supportive and creative environment, concluding with a showcase performance for friends and family.

A musical theatre jazz class for students ages 10–13 that focuses on foundational jazz technique and performance skills used in musical theatre. Students will learn stylized choreography, improve coordination and musicality, and build confidence in performance quality, expression, and stage presence in a fun and supportive environment, concluding with a showcase performance for friends and family.

Stage III- Classes for Ages 14+

An acting class for students ages 14+ of all experience levels, focused on developing strong, practical audition and performance skills. Students will work on monologues, script analysis, character development, and scene study, gaining tools to approach material with clarity, confidence, and intention. The class is designed to prepare students for auditions and real-world performance opportunities, and will culminate in a showcase for friends and family.

A jazz dance class for students ages 14+ focused on developing strong foundational and intermediate jazz techniques used in musical theatre. Students will work on strength, flexibility, coordination, and performance quality through stylized choreography and across-the-floor progressions. An invitation-only student professional acting class for students ages 14+, led by Artistic Director Giancarlo Rodaz. This advanced, bootcamp-style course is designed for serious young actors seeking intensive training and real-world preparation for the field. Students will work at a rigorous pace on monologues, scene study, and audition technique, with a strong emphasis on discipline, precision, and adaptability. The class is designed to prepare students for conservatory-level study and professional pathways in theatre and performance.

An invitation-only musical theatre class for students ages 14+ that culminates in a Miscast Cabaret, back by popular demand. In this collaborative, performance-driven course, students will work together to create a fully developed showcase from concept to final performance. The class emphasizes ensemble building, creative ownership, and performance versatility as students help shape all aspects of the show, which will be presented at the end of the semester.

Enrollment in any class includes free academic tutoring and homework support Monday through Friday (3:00 PM - 6:00 PM). Additionally, all students participate in class-based performances that culminate in an end-of-semester showcase performance, giving them the opportunity to perform for a live audience.

Yes! Area Stage offers $100,000 in scholarships every year. Eligibility for an award will depend upon the applicant's demonstrated financial need and overall merit as determined by the Theatre Directors. We offer partial and full scholarships.
Awards vary and are renewable each year, provided that the recipient reapplies and continues meeting all eligibility requirements, including volunteer hours. Scholarships do not include production videos, merchandise, private lessons, or tickets.
