ride the cyclone: teen edition

In this hilarious and outlandish story, the lives of six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir are cut short in a freak accident aboard a roller coaster. When they awake in limbo, a mechanical fortune teller invites each to tell a story to win a prize like no other – the chance to return to life. Through a wondrously funny and touching series of songs, the teen contestants argue that they should be the ones to be saved. Told with moving insights into adolescence as well as dark comedic style benefiting the outrageousness of its premise, Ride The Cyclone is a memorable and original musical.

CABARET

In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken with English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish.

How To Audition
Cabaret is currently accepting pre-screen auditions only. Callbacks will take place in person at Area Stage at a later date. If you are interested in auditioning for this production, please fill out the from below and include a YouTube link to your audition material.
Please prepare a 16-bar cut of a musical theatre song in the style of the show, and a one minute monologue from a published play.

AUDITION WORKSHOP
Prepare for your audition for Area Stage Conservatory’s Cabaret student production with this focused audition workshop. This dance heavy workshop will prepare students for the audition and callback process the first week of rehearsal.
Participants will also learn audition material, receive coaching from teaching artists, and gain valuable insight into the audition process, helping them walk into their audition feeling confident and prepared.
